Thank you so much for this cookbook. I work with formerly homeless individuals and families and this cookbook is used by our case managers and volunteers in teaching nutrition and healthy eating on a budget. We have 42 properties with over 1600 units, so we really use this often. Any hard copies that you are willing to donate would be greatly appreciated, but really the download is amazingly useful.

  Hi Rachel, sorry to say that we don’t have a system for donating to organizations like yours at the moment. We have a new donation partner who is donating through their charitable partners. They hope to have the flexibility to donate more widely soon, but not quite yet. Sorry to disappoint. If by chance you have a bit of budget, my lovely publisher sells them at deep discount here and are lovely, responsive and understanding: workman.com/features/goodandcheap/

Thank you for sharing your talent and the information- well done! Healthy good eating at a low cost is a blessing for many families on budgets and others as well. What do you think about the use of honey, stevia, etc. versus white granulated sugar, and the use of barley versus wheat (gluten) for breads, cakes, cookies etc.?

  I am generally in favor of any and all ingredients that folks are drawn to! I personally have never worked with stevia, but many swear by it and other natural sweeteners like honey, agave or brown rice syrup are lovely but just require recipe tweaking since they chance the chemistry in baked goods. And of course for anyone with celiac’s disease flours that don’t contain gluten are a must! And it can be fun to work with new kinds of flour and more whole grains for the rest of us too.
